The wait is over: Travis Scott's Astroworld Festival lineup revealed

HOUSTON – One thing we knew about Saturday's Astroworld Festival is that Travis Scott was the headliner.

Other than that, everything else remained under wraps -- until Friday around 4 p.m.

Before the lineup came out, general admission tickets for the festival sold out.

“I just knew that since he’s from Houston that he was going to pull out all the stops and make it the biggest leg of his tour, so I just knew, as soon as the tickets came out, I just got them,” said Christopher Davis as he got his hair cut at Goode Looks Barber Shop. “And my friends got them and we’re just like we’re just going to go out there and have a good time.”

Scott’s highly acclaimed album, which is called Astroworld, has many different artists featured on it. The 26-year-old is from Missouri City and attended Elkins High School. His new record pays homage to the theme park Houstonians know, love and cherished.

“It’s amazing to see that this man from Fort Bend, is now an International A-List, multi-platinum superstar and he still holds the pride of our city the way we view our selves,” explained Keffus Falls III, a big fan of Scott’s and Davis’ friend. “If you’re from Houston, only we can understand how much pride we take into the city.”

Festival doors open at noon on Saturday.

Scott released the full lineup on Twitter about 24 hours before the start of the festival. Here is the list of performers:

  • Travis Scott
  • Post Malone
  • Lil' Wayne
  • Young Thug
  • Rae Sremmurd
  • Gunna
  • Houston All Stars
  • Sheck Wes
  • Metro Boomin
  • Trippie Redd
  • Virgil Abloh
  • Smokepurpp
  • Tommy Genesis

The Astroworld Festival is set for Saturday at the 350-acre NRG Park, which is just across the highway from the former site of the namesake theme park that once called downtown Houston home.

When the festival was announced in August, organizers said Scott, a rapper who grew up in Missouri City, wants to bring back the beloved spirit and nostalgia of Astroworld, making a childhood dream of his come true.

People attending are allowed to bring a factory sealed water bottle, a reusable water bottle or Camelbak, sunscreen, blankets, umbrellas, baby strollers and other items mentioned on their website.

People can’t bring backpacks, purses or bags  that don’t fit the bag policy. Most notably, “Bad Attitudes” are not allowed, “Positive vibes only!”

The festival is rain-or-shine, so Houstonians (and out-of-towners) who are going to the festival will want to keep an eye on the weather to make sure they're prepared.

Thankfully, we have meteorologists here at KPRC and they provided a special "Astroworld Festival" forecast. When the gates open at 2 p.m., weather should be about perfect with temperatures around 72 degrees and a few clouds in the sky. When the sun goes down, temperatures are expected to drop into the 50s.

The rain isn't supposed to reach Houston until Sunday.
