No shelter-in-place in Texas City after Valero plant fire, officials say

TEXAS CITY, Texas – A fire was reported at a Valero refinery in Texas City on Thursday.

Texas City Office of Emergency Management officials initially told KPRC2 a shelter-in-place had been issued, but that order was never officially given.

Investigators are working to learn more about this incident.

There have been no reports of injuries, they say. 

Valero released the following statement:

"At approximately 5 p.m., a fire occurred Valero's Texas City refinery. The fire has been fully contained. Valero has contacted local authorities and are cooperating with appropriate regulatory agencies and other key stakeholder groups. All personnel have been accounted for and air monitoring is underway."
