The family of the victim, Carlton Griffin, said he went to the park July 28 to approach a man, later identified as Salas, who they said came to Griffin's home earlier in the day and pulled a gun.

His family said Griffin found Salas at the park and they got into a fight. During the fight Griffin, 46, was killed and his step-son, Leonard Taylor, 17, was shot and injured.

Family members said Griffin was the glue that held the family together.

"It hurts so bad. I don't even know what to say no more. That was my baby brother and it just hurts me. It hurts me so bad," Therissia Griffin said.

"This is really heartbreaking to me. It hurts so deeply I can't even cry. I'm crying on the inside," Debra Moore said.
