Burglar shot in northeast Harris County

HOUSTON – A homeowner shot a burglar after the suspect attempted to steal a trailer from the property in northeast Harris County.

The shooting happened at 10 a.m. in the 3100 block of Cedar Hill Lane, according the Harris County deputies. A Hispanic male attempted to steal a trailer that had a John Deere tractor on it. 

The homeowner said the man used bolt cutters to cut the chain to his automatic fence and when he saw the homeowner, he ran across the street.

The homeowner was home at the time and saw the suspect. The homeowner shot the suspect twice.

The 35-year-old suspect was shot in the arm. The suspect was transported to Ben Taub and is expected to survive.

According to deputies, the suspect was also found to have a felony warrant for auto theft. 

A Harris County grand jury will review the case.
