Phone app leads police to suspected rapist

HOUSTON – A popular smart phone app helped lead police to a man accused of kidnapping and raping a young woman.

Kidnapping, rape and robbery. Dontevion Williams, 19, is accused of committing all three crimes.

Police said his victim was a 20-year-old woman who had been out with friends and was heading home for the night. A popular app she had on her cell phone led to Williams' arrest.

The young woman left Tailgators Pub & Grill off 1488 in Magnolia Sunday night and drove south on I-45. Her cell phone battery was low so she got off the freeway at Rayford Sawdust and pulled into the parking lot of a nearby business, a Discount Tire Store, to grab the charger off the floor board.

"She heard a medal object tapping on the driver's side window of her car. She looks up. She sees this defendant wearing a black hoodie, pointing a pistol at her, demanding she open the door. The defendant pointed a gun at her and told her to behave and he wouldn't have to shoot her. He drove her to a U-Haul parking lot," a court clerk said.

Williams appeared before a judge Tuesday afternoon when the allegations against him were read aloud in court. Police said he raped the young woman at the location on Spring Cypress.

"He asked her how much money she had in her banking account. She said $400. He made her tell him where the ATM was," the court clerk said.

Police said Williams then drove to a nearby dumpster and told her to get out of the car.

"He had her stand with her hands behind her back while her vehicle and the vehicle that had been following them the entire time sped off," the court clerk said.

Her cell phone was still in the car. So by using the Find My Phone app police were able to locate Williams at his mother's house where officers arrested him.
