Cinco Ranch student allegedly bullied by classmates, expelled after trying to defend herself

KATY, Texas – Bullying accusations at Cinco Ranch High School, but there's a twist. Charges have been filed against the student who was allegedly bullied.

Until this past Friday, Honesti White was a sophomore at Cinco Ranch High School.

“The teachers are really nice,” White said. “They helped me a lot. My guidance counselor help me because I was struggling in school so she made sure I got extra help.”

The school expelled the 15-year-old for fighting. White said a group of mean girls had been taunting her for months over a cellphone that had been given to her. She said she had no choice but to defend herself.

“I felt defeated. I felt like I did nothing wrong and I'm the one being punished. I felt completely mistreated. I was the one who was being harassed and bullied now I'm the one expelled from school.” White said.

Her mother was outraged after she found out that Katy ISD police filed an assault charge against her daughter.

Tatiana Rountree said she complained over a dozen times to school administrators about her daughter being threatened and claims she was told they have no record of it.

“I feel like they have ignored many signs of a situation that could have been handled and taken care of long ago if they would have provided the right attention,” Rountree said.

Rountree said the situation has snowballed out of control. She just filed a police report against the teens, claiming they were on social media, threatening to shoot and kill her daughter.

In a statement sent to KPRC 2 news Tuesday night, Katy ISD said: "In Katy ISD, we take such matters very seriously and will investigate thoroughly to ensure our students are provided with a safe learning environment.  However, because this case is still under investigation by Katy ISD Police, we are unable to share any details at this time."
