HOUSTON – Actress Melanie Lynskey has a pretty impressive résumé when it comes to making us laugh and cry, but now she’s bringing all of that emotional magic to a brand-new Netflix film.
‘Don’t Say Good Luck’ starts streaming August 14th and stars Sunny Sandler as Sophie Birenbaum, a high school theater student who finally lands the lead in her school’s production of Waitress. But just as Sophie is preparing for the performance of a lifetime, she discovers that her mother is facing a serious health crisis — suddenly giving her much more drama at home than she ever expected onstage.

Melanie plays Sophie’s mom, Elizabeth, with Max Greenfield stepping into the role of her dad. The cast also includes Stephanie Beatriz, Bebe Neuwirth, Steve Buscemi, and Jon Lovitz making this one star-studded story.
And there’s a particularly sweet connection between Lynskey and her young co-star Sunny Sandler, daughter of Adam and Jackie Sandler, who takes center stage in the film and gives an outstanding performance.
So whether you’re a theater kid, a Melanie Lynskey fan, a Sandler-family fan — or just looking for something new to stream this weekend — Don’t Say Good Luck should be your next Netflix watch.
