HOUSTON, Texas – Harris County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating after a man was found dead in the roadway in west Houston late Sunday night.
Deputies were dispatched around 10:42 p.m. Sunday to the 1700 block of Greenhouse Road for a reported vehicle and pedestrian incident. When the first deputy arrived, emergency medical personnel were already on scene. The man was found in the roadway with no signs of life.

Earlier calls from the surrounding area described a man acting erratically. Investigators say the description matched the man found in the road, though they have not determined what caused his behavior.
A woman who called 911 stopped to check on the man and found him unresponsive. Another driver also stopped at the scene. Neither driver reported striking him.
Investigators have not determined whether a vehicle struck the man or whether he suffered a medical episode in the roadway. If a vehicle did strike him, it did not remain at the scene.
At some point before he was found, the man had been seen in a nearby apartment parking lot and running around the buildings. Investigators had not yet determined whether he lived at the complex. His approximate age was not available.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is handling the investigation.
