Astros win AL West title on last day of the season

HOUSTON – It’s official! The Houston Astros are playoff bound once again after clinching the AL West division title for the 8th time since 2017.

The Astros were still playing when the Texas Rangers lost to the Minnesota Twins Sunday afternoon. That loss by the Rangers clinched the title since the Astros won the season series against Texas.

A short time after winning the title, Houston closed out the regular season with 9-0 win over the Sacramento A’s to finish with a 81-81 record.

The Astros trip to the postseason is their 8^th in the past 9 seasons and they will open play hosting the Chicago White Sox in the AL Wild Card series at Daikin Park.

Game 1 is Tuesday at 4pm followed by Game 2 Wednesday at 4pm. If a Game 3 is needed it will take place on Thursday at a time to be determined.
