Kenny and Ziggy’s owner Ziggy Gruber whips up traditional Jewish kugel for National Deli Month

HOUSTON – August is National Deli Month, a time to celebrate and honor the cultural significance of delicatessens while also supporting local charities.

This month in Houston, Kenny and Ziggy’s New York Delicatessen is donating 10% of their proceeds to Holocaust Museum Houston.

The owner, Ziggy Gruber, stopped by Houston Life to share more about the early days of his culinary career that began at his grandfather’s restaurant in New York City. Plus, he chats about the stories behind his beloved former deli on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood and his technique for making two types of traditional Jewish kugel: sweet and savory.
