HOUSTON – Gexa Energy is marking its 25th anniversary by turning celebration into service. Over the past week the company organized multiple volunteer efforts across Houston — from Midtown’s Meals on Wheels site to The Beacon’s Ardel Ray Day Center — with 25 employees joining shifts, and more volunteers on a waiting list. The result: hundreds of meals served, essentials delivered and meaningful connections made.

On the route: Meals on Wheels in Midtown

Gexa volunteers joined a briefing at the Midtown Meals on Wheels hub before loading insulated carriers and heading out on delivery routes. The work wasn’t just about food — it was about checking in on seniors, many over 75, who live alone and rely on those daily visits for companionship and safety. The program also accepts pet-food donations through an AniMeals initiative so seniors’ animal companions stay fed — if you have unopened cat or dog food to spare, consider donating.

Hands-on help at The Beacon

Gexa Energy also partnered with The Beacon to support Houston residents experiencing homelessness. Employees prepared and served hot meals, organized donation drives, and assisted with laundry and distribution — all aimed at preserving dignity and helping clients move toward stable housing. Corporate-community partnerships like this make measurable differences.

A milestone that strengthens community

What started as an anniversary celebration has become an ongoing commitment to Gexa’s motto of “Texans Serving Texans.” From feeding seniors to sorting donations and helping feed unhoused neighbors downtown, Gexa’s 25th anniversary activities show how corporate volunteer programs can make a real difference in the community.

Hats off to the Gexa team for using a milestone to deepen ties with local nonprofits and to remind our city that small acts — a warm meal, a clean shirt, a friendly visit — matter.
