Gexa Energy gives back: Make-A-Wish reveal brings joy to local child

HOUSTON – Gexa’s commitment: more than corporate giving Gexa Energy’s president, Ryan McGeachie, says the best days at the office aren’t about contracts or quarterly numbers — they’re about moments like the company’s Make‑A‑Wish reveals.

Recently, Gexa turned its training room into a surprise celebration for 4‑year‑old Max, affectionately known as “Gordo,” whose wish was to see the trucks fly at Monster Jam.

How Gexa shows up in Houston

The Monster Jam surprise is part of a larger culture of service at Gexa. McGeachie says employees regularly volunteer across the city - from building homes with Habitat for Humanity to serving meals at The Beacon - and Make‑A‑Wish events are a natural extension of that ethos.

For Gexa, community engagement isn’t a line item; it’s woven into everyday work life.

When a company uses its resources to create a single perfect day for a child, McGeachie says that’s all the reason we need.

Small gestures, big impact

Gexa went all in for Max: luggage for travel, Grave Digger T‑shirts, a pile of toy monster trucks and plenty of sweets. But McGeachie stresses the power of small gestures — a lanyard, a VIP pass, hands-on participation — that build confidence and lasting memories for families. Those moments resonate with staff and viewers alike, reinforcing a local message: businesses can and should be a force for good in the communities they serve.

Planning your own way to give back

Gexa’s Make‑A‑Wish reveal highlights how corporations can partner with local nonprofits to make life-changing moments possible.
