In the Kitchen with Kroger: Memorial Day hosting doesn’t have to start from scratch

Houston – Memorial Day weekend is almost here, and for many families, that means firing up the grill and gathering with friends. But according to the team at Kroger, hosting a holiday cookout does not have to mean spending all day cooking from scratch.

During a recent Houston Life segment, Kroger shared simple ways to create an easy Memorial Day spread using ready-to-serve favorites and quick grilling ideas. From fully cooked ribs finished on the grill with extra barbecue sauce to the store’s popular rotisserie chicken, the focus was all about convenience without sacrificing flavor.

Chef Irv with Kroger also demonstrated easy crowd-pleasers like grilled corn, veggie kabobs, baked beans, and potato salad, showing how small additions like herbs, sauces, or grilled peaches can elevate simple store-bought items. The goal is to keep entertaining relaxed while still serving a meal that feels festive and homemade.

Shayna Barrett, Head of Communications and Public Affairs for Kroger’s Houston region, also highlighted savings for the holiday weekend, including fuel point promotions and a 10% military discount for active-duty and veteran military members and their families on Memorial Day.

From proteins and sides to desserts and party décor, Kroger says it aims to be a one-stop shop for stress-free holiday entertaining so families can spend less time cooking and more time enjoying the long weekend together.
