HOUSTON – On Friday, May 8th, hundreds of high school students from the Houston area will come together for the Tommy Tune Awards. The annual awards show, created and hosted by Theatre Under The Stars, is designed to celebrate excellence in musical theatre.
With finalists in categories for directing, choreography, lighting design, set design, costume design, singing, dancing and many other roles both on and off the stage, the Tommy Tune Awards highlight the future creatives who will shape the future of theatre, not just in Houston but around the world.
Inspired by the career and legacy of Houston native and Broadway legend Tommy Tune, the awards show began in 2002 and has become what many consider Houston’s biggest night for high school musical theatre.
