Texas roots and coastal growth, how the Oyster Bros in Palacios are redefining the gulf oyster

Palacios, Texas – Before oysters were ever part of the plan, it all started with shrimp and a dream.

Back in 1978, Homer Aparicio founded Anchor Seafood, beginning what would become a multi-generational relationship with the Gulf. What started as a way to support his growing family quickly expanded into a five-boat operation known as the “Rio fleet.” Over time, that modest beginning grew into a thriving shrimping company with 10 commercial vessels, firmly establishing the Aparicio family as a key contributor to Texas’ seafood industry.

Now, decades later, the next generation is charting a new course.

Homer’s grandsons, David “D” and Jacob Aparicio have rebranded as the Oyster Bros in order to honor the family legacy in a different lane: oyster farming. Their focus? Producing high-quality oysters with the same work ethic and connection to the Gulf that started it all.

The Oyster Bros prove that with hard work, vision, and a deep respect for the water, a family tradition can evolve and thrive for generations to come.

You can try their delicious “Matagorda Pearl” oyster at many fine dining establishments in Houston and beyond.
