OVERVIEW: We’re keeping a close eye on a cold front coming in from the west this weekend into Saturday and Sunday. We’re tracking a chance for .05-1.5″ across the area. However, some stronger cells could produce more rain.
A flash flood watch: Has now been issued from Saturday afternoon through Sunday 7 am. As we get closer, we will nail down the timing - but below you’ll find out why we don’t have all the answers yet and exactly when we will!
First, how we track Easter Storm Chances in Houston:
It’s only Tuesday, so we’ll get a clearer picture as we get closer. But if you’re trying to plan now, let’s talk about Sunday’s forecast. Right now, we’re 5 days out.
7-10 days out we look at the extended long-range models for large scale patterns.
3-5 days out we start to get within the short to medium-range window, we can start to fine-tune timing within reason.
1-3 days we shift to short range timing where we can focus on start and end times.
24 hours - we have the ability to be more precise
Now/Hand tracking in the now: We follow the storm in real time.
So, right now, we’re shifting from long-range patterns to medium range timing.
Tracking our models and timing:
The Euro: Has the front moving into the Houston area in the overnight hours into the early morning.
The American: Has the front making it’s way into Houston around 11 am.
