Get up and active this National Walking Day with these moves at home
Houston – National Walking Day, celebrated every first Tuesday of April, encourages everyone to get moving for better health. It was first introduced by the American Heart Association in 2007.
Health and fitness expert Dr. Ian Smith and fitness trainer Joey Thurman shared with Houston Life co-hosts Derrick Shore and Tessa Barrera some simple tips for improving your walking routine. They emphasize that no matter your fitness level, just walking for a few minutes a day can make a big difference!
Thurman and Dr. Smith both highlighted the benefits of walking, like improving heart health and digestion and recommended using apps like Walk at Home for indoor walking. He also suggested spicing up your walk with music and adding moves like standing crunches to engage your core.
Walking is a sure way to stay active and improve your health. Start today—every step counts!
