What does the ‘Barbie Bowl’ at Aussie Café Citizens of Montrose Taste Like? Find out Here!

HOUSTON – Aussie Café, Citizens of Montrose, has had the ‘Barbie Bowl’ on their menu since they opened their first restaurant in New York City in 2016, but in honor of the Barbie movie’s famous Australian they are renaming it the ‘Margot Robbie’ Bowl for a few weeks.

This might be the place to get your healthiest ‘Barbie pink’ food, not just during Barbie movie fever - but beyond!

The ‘Margot Robbie Bowl is a pretty, pink, and refreshing dragon fruit smoothie bowl sweetened with agave and sprinkled with coconut flakes and bee pollen. It is not the only pink item on the menu. You will find a dragon fruit mimosa and a pink latte that is lightly sweet, with a delicate earthiness to it - the earthiness and the pink comes from powdered beetroot!

Over all, the focus on the food at Citizens of Montrose is to keep it fresh and healthy.

Co-Owner Andrew Geisel explains that the Aussie-styled food they serve at the café is not that different to American food, “It’s fresh, it’s healthy, it’s colorful...sneak a bit of vegemite in there,” he joked.

There is definitely an Aussie authenticity to the taste of the food that Houston Life’s resident Aussie, Melanie Camp can vouch for and it is a great place for a flat white and a good Aussie brekky with a ripper of an avo toast.

In other words, go try the breakfast or brunch.
