Amazon begins hiring 2,500 for new Houston fulfillment center

HOUSTON – Amazon has begun hiring for full-time positions at its new robotics fulfillment center in Houston.

When the Houston facility was announced in July 2016, Amazon estimated it would create more than 1,000 full-time positions. Today, the company is seeking to hire more than 2,500 full-time associate roles to be part of the team to launch operations of its newest robotics fulfillment center in Texas.

Associates at the 855,000 square-foot facility will work alongside the robotic technologies to pick, pack and ship smaller-sized customer items, such as books, electronic devices and toys.

Applicants can apply online. Full-time employees at Amazon receive competitive hourly wages and a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental and vision insurance, performance-based bonuses, 401(k) and company stock awards starting on day one.

The company also offers up to 20 weeks of paid leave and benefits such as "leave share" and "ramp back", which give new parents flexibility with their growing families.

Amazon also offers regular full-time employees programs like "career choice," in which it will pre-pay up to 95 percent of tuition for courses related to in-demand fields, regardless of whether the skills are relevant to a career at Amazon. Since the program’s launch, more than 9,000 employees are pursuing degrees in game design and visual communications, nursing, IT programming and radiology, to name a few.

In Texas, Amazon currently has fulfillment locations in Coppell, Dallas, Haslet, Fort Worth, Irving, Schertz, San Antonio and San Marcos.
