Rue21 closing nearly 40 stores in Texas

HOUSTON – Clothing retailer rue21 announced Monday it will close hundreds of stores across the country, including nearly 40 stores in Texas.

The Pennsylvania-based company confirmed the closure of nearly 400 stores in a Facebook post, calling the move “a difficult but necessary decision.”

The company reminded customers that there will still be hundreds of stores located across the country and their website will be open for business.

A list of the affected stores included 38 in Texas. The five stores located in southeast Texas are Bay City, Cypress, League City, Liberty and Pearland at The Center.

Other Texas cities with closures include: Alice, Beaumont, Beeville, Big Spring, Brownsville, Brownwood, Cleburne, Corpus Christi, Dallas, Del Rio, Denton, Floresville, Frisco, Granbury, Harker Heights, Harlingen, Hillsboro, Kingsville, Marshall, Mercedes, Palestine, Palmhurst, Plainview, Plano, Pleasanton, Rockwall, San Angelo, San Antonio, Selma, Tyler, Uvalde, Weatherford and Wylie.
