Holiday travel in Texas looks to be mostly trouble-free as Christmas approaches

Friday rain could pose biggest trouble for holiday travelers in Texas

HOUSTON – With the exception of a cold front that will bring rain to parts of East and Southeast Texas on Friday, holiday travel leading up to Christmas should be problem-free in the Lone Star State.

The cold front set to slide through Houston Friday evening will bring showers and a thunderstorm or two to the eastern third of the state.

No severe weather is expected, and the rain should clear the state before daybreak Saturday.

Wintry weather will not pose a problem this weekend in any part of Texas. Chilly air will filter in behind Friday's front, but the air will be dry.

That will leave Saturday, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day dry and increasingly sunny and pleasant.

For the Houston area, look for morning low temperatures in the 30s and afternoon highs between 55 and 60 degrees on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
