In Joctober, Pederson does it all for Dodgers

After nearly being traded in February and hitting .190 in the regular season, Pederson is coming up big in the postseason. The left-handed slugger also homered in the Dodgers' losing efforts in the 2017 and 2018 World Series. He started in left in Games 1, 3 and 5 of the World Series. He's hitting .400 in the World Series, second on the team to red-hot Corey Seager, who's batting .471.

Seager brothers go deep, Dodgers rally past Mariners 11-9

It was the 10th time in major league history that opposing brothers both went deep in a game. The teams combined for seven long balls, marking the second straight game there have been seven or more at Chavez Ravine. He had a three-run drive to right field during the second inning that gave Los Angeles a short-lived 6-2 advantage. Los Angeles' Ross Stripling struggled for the second straight outing, allowing three homers and seven runs (six earned) in three innings. Los Angeles RHP Tony Gonsolin (0-0) has not allowed a run over 8 2/3 innings in two previous starts this season.

Betts struck out swinging in his first at-bat a day after signing a $365 million deal over 12 years. Justin Turner grounded into a fielder's choice and Betts beat a throw to the plate to give the Dodgers a 2-1 lead in the seventh. Betts struck out with the bases loaded to end a five-run inning that made it 6-1. PREGAME CEREMONYThe Giants and Dodgers held a black ribbon that wound along the baselines in a show of unity after pregame introductions.

No paychecks for 11 big leaguers: advance larger than salary

He is among 11 major leaguers whose prorated pay for the abbreviated 60-game season amounts to less than the $286,500 advance already received by the 32-year-old left-hander. His prorated salary for the short season will be $242,593, assuming the contagion does not cause more games to be canceled. Peralta has a low salary in 2020 as part of a $15.5 million, five-year contract he agreed to in March.

Ouch! Offshore sports book publishes odds on how many times Astros players will be hit by pitches in 2020

The player who’s the favorite to get hit the most according to these odds? Behind Bregman, George Springer had the second-best odds of being the Astro to get hit this season. MLB teams were hit an average of 66 times last season, with the New York Mets topping the list at 95. The website also has another bet related to Bregman, who finished second to Mike Trout in MVP voting last season. People can wager on if Bregman will be plunked over or under 10½ times in the regular season.
