Civil rights attorney Ben Crump held a news conference Friday evening to announce two new lawsuits have been filed against Harris County for the deaths and alleged abuse of eight inmates.

A lawsuit has been filed against Harris County officials for the death of an inmate that suffered an apparent medical emergency at the county jail in May.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said they are now up to six inmates who have died while in custody at the Harris County Jail this year. Ongoing questions are swirling about how this keeps happening again, and again, and again.
