Several lanes were closed on the Katy Freeway at Mason Road following a multi-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon.

The Harris County Pct. 4 Constable’s Office said it happened in the 15100 block of Mason Road, near the intersection with Cypresswood Drive.

The crash has cleared and the highway has reopened, according to Houston Transtar.

Following the recent auto-pedestrian crash that killed a 14-year-old boy in a Mason Road crosswalk, there has been an increase in public concern about the safety of pedestrian crossings in the Cinco Ranch area.

Fort Bend County Precinct 1 deputies are investigating a deadly crash near Creech Elementary School located in the Cinco Ranch area Thursday morning.

Two passengers were killed Friday after being struck by an oncoming truck following a fight with their driver on U.S. 290 near Mason Road, according to the Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.

The freeway is now open at I-10 Katy Freeway inbound near Mason Road after an earlier shutdown due to a fatal crash involving a large box truck and a motorcycle.
