Walmart to build more robot-filled warehouses at stores

Walmart announced Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2021, that it plans to build warehouses at its stores where self-driving robots will fetch groceries and have them ready for shoppers to pick up in an hour or less. Walmart declined to say how many of the warehouses it will build, but construction has started at stores in Lewisville, Texas; Plano, Texas; American Fork, Utah; and Bentonville, Arkansas, where Walmartโs corporate offices are based. Walmart hopes the warehouses will speed up curbside pickups, where orders are brought outside to shoppers' cars. The wheeled robots carry crates of apple juice, cereal and other small goods to Walmart workers, who then bag them for shoppers.

There are three games on tap Thursday night that feature area teams, and we'll give them a quick look here. In its last three played games, Martin has put up 173 points. Last week was a low-scoring, competitive tilt against Weatherford, and its next game looks to be more of the same. Highland Park has faced pretty talented teams - Coppell, Rockwall, Longview - and passed every test with flying colors. This week's game, which already features a loss from Wednesday night, is State Championship Week heavy with a few other games mixed in.

Michael Burgess, R-Lewisville, conceded his bid to be the Republican leader on the House Energy and Commerce Committee on Wednesday. The pair were vying for the role of ranking member โ the minority party's top member on the committee. The House Energy and Commerce Committee has one of the most sweeping jurisdictions of all House committees, including all sectors of American commerce. U.S. Rep. Joaquin Castro, a San Antonio Democrat, is running to be chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

For this week, we reached out to each team's head coach to get what was most important for their respective team to focus on this week (not all coaches responded by publishing time). Plano West, however, is off to a surprising 2-1 start under first-year head coach Tyler Soukup.
