The deputy shot the suspect, the Galveston Sheriff’s Office said, when the suspect brandished a weapon. The shooting happened on 51st and S1/2 in Galveston at about 9:30 Thursday morning“Multiple commands were given to him, he refused to put the gun down and our officers fired several rounds,” said Captain Dennis Macki of the Galveston County Sheriff’s office. The suspect who was shot was transported to UTMB with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. The investigation is being turned over to Texas Rangers and the Galveston County District Attorney, the sheriff’s office said.
