The East Montgomery County Improvement District said it is expected to close this month on a 64-acre tract of land in New Caney that will become a haven for nature lovers, hike and bike enthusiasts, and dog owners and their furry friends.

An East Montgomery County firefighter died while off-duty after a vehicle accident Saturday, the department announced.

Montgomery County, Texas Montgomery County Judge Mark Keough has declared a State of Disaster for Montgomery County. Keough says that State resources have been requested and will be immediately deployed. Zodiac rescue boats and high water vehicles are responding to the county to assist with in-progress rescues.
