Colts' Matt Ryan on pace to shatter season fumble record

Matt Ryan came to Indianapolis to win games, maybe even a championship. Four weeks into the season, it all seems to be slipping through Ryan's figures โ€” literally. Ryan fumbled twice in a 24-17 loss to rival Tennessee on Sunday, giving the 15-year veteran nine fumbles in four games.

The Colts Bolt From Baltimore

It was the night that Colts fans will (bitterly) never forget. On March 28, 1984, 15 moving trucks from Mayflower Transit, an Indiana-based moving company, arrived at the Colts facility at around 10 p.m. Eight hours later, the Colts were gone from Baltimore and bound for their new home in Indianapolis. The Colts had played in Memorial Stadium, a rundown facility. When the irascible Robert Irsay took over the franchise in 1972, he lobbied the city of Baltimore to build him a new venue. His efforts went nowhere. The Maryland Senate passed legislation on March 27th that gave Baltimore the right to seize ownership of the Colts by eminent domain. Fearing that he could lose his team, Irsay accepted Indianapolis' offer โ€” which involved a new domed stadium โ€” the next day. Football would return to Baltimore in the '90s, when the city lured the Cleveland Browns and renamed it the Ravens. But for many fans and observers, the dramatic events of 1984 stand as the most notorious franchise move in NFL history.

NFL Week 14 Debacle: Bears 36, Texans 7 โ€” Four Winners, Four Losers

I was more intrigued by what type of effort we would see from the Texans, especially early in the game. Like the final upcoming three weeks of the NFL season, let's get this over with ... winners and losers... here we go... The Dolphins, the recipients of the multiple first round picks from the Texans for Tunsil's services, are laughing watching the Texans' season slide into the toilet, and watching those picks rise up the board. Bill O'BrienThis designation โ€” Bill O'Brien, WINNER โ€” might make you scratch your head. My "broken record" bullet point of the week โ€” the Texans' offense punted on their opening possession.

NFL Week 11: Texans 27, Patriots 20 โ€” Four Winners, Four Losers

Aside from 2014, the Texans have played the Patriots in every regular season since 2012, and twice in the postseason. Then, the Texans broke through and won last season, and we all thought maybe our little baby โ€” the Texans โ€” were all grown up. Well, on Sunday, Reid finally had a vintage Reid game, leading the team in tackles (9), and getting his first career sack. Anthony WeaverWhen you talk about so many beleaguered players on the Texans' defense, well, numerous flummoxed players equals one wildly frustrated and emotional defensive coordinator. Somewhere, the oft-criticized (and currently on the injured reserve list with a concussion) David Johnson was watching this game, and the Texans' run blocking, saying "See?...

Patriots place 3 more on COVID-IR but Broncos game still on

The Patriots went back to work Saturday, Oct. 17, one day after a fifth player on the team tested positive for COVID-19 and one day before their twice-postponed game against the Denver Broncos. The Broncos had COVID-19 news of their own Saturday: Running backs coach Curtis Modkins has tested positive and wonโ€™t make the trip to New England. Elsewhere, the Jacksonville Jaguars said that a practice-squad player tested positive. The Jaguars also placed defensive end Josh Mauro on the regular COVID-19 list. The Falcons had to shut their facility Thursday but reopened Friday after one nonplayer tested positive.

Barkley, 49ers hit with potentially season-ending injuries

Start with running back, where Giants star Saquon Barkley is believed to have torn the ACL in his right knee early in their loss at Chicago. The 49ers' Jimmy Garoppolo tried to play through a right ankle injury before Nick Mullens took over for the second half. Tevin Coleman also left San Francisco's win over the Jets with a late knee injury. Along with Lock and Sutton, the Broncos lost defensive end Dre'Mont Jones to a knee injury in their defeat at Pittsburgh. Washington guard Brandon Scherff, who left early in Arizona with a knee injury, was among the offensive linemen hurt around the NFL on Sunday.

NFL teams can reopen training facilities with government OK

A limited number of NFL teams are reopening their training facilities Tuesday, while many are prohibited by government restrictions during the coronavirus pandemic. The Packers, Ravens, Dolphins, Vikings, Titans, Buccaneers, Browns, Panthers, Saints, Eagles and Packers have chosen not to reopen Tuesday. When they say its OK," he said of when he anticipates players being approved to enter team facilities. "Im not paid to know when that is, but when they say its OK to be back and the facilities open up to players, Ill be there, and Ill be comfortable with it. "Ive used the phrase that we want to walk, then jog, then run as we talk about how we reopen our facilities."

NFL Week 12: Colts-Texans Four Things To Watch For

AFC playoff pictureWhat makes last Sunday so painful for Texans fans is what makes the NFL so great. The scarcity of games, along with the resulting importance in EVERY SINGLE GAME, are what make the NFL so popular. Rookie CB Lonnie Johnson left the Ravens game with what looked like a serious leg injury when defensive tackle Brandon Dunn rolled him up trying to tackle Lamar Jackson. His two turnovers in that Ravens loss were Grade F terrible turnovers, and the first one continued the Texans streak of absolutely terrible execution on opening drives. Bill O'Brien addresses media Monday, Looks ahead to Colts

Houston - Texans Head Coach Bill O'Brien addressed the media on Monday at NRG Stadium following their 41-7 loss at Baltimore on Sunday. Basically this is Thursday of a game week. They do a really good job. They've got a lot of good players on this defense. They really do a good job of playing disciplined football and being where they're supposed to be.

NFL Week 11 Debacle: Ravens 41, Texans 7 Four Winners, Four Losers

All of a sudden, the Colts game on Thursday is massive. Related Stories NFL Week 11: Head Coaches Hot Seat RankingsLet's start this week's winners and loser with Fairbairn.... They'd have been 7-3 and tied with the Ravens, while owning the head to head tie breaker, and trailing only the 9-1 Patriots. Tough calls, continual mistakes prove costly in Texans' loss

Getty ImagesINDIANAPOLIS - INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson couldn't believe what he was being told Sunday. "I went back and forth with the ref," Watson said following the Texans' 30-23 loss at Indianapolis. He said he was trying to protect my health so it goes back and forth, but that's the call he made." The Texans settled for field goals on each of their first three red-zone trips, including the touchdown that was called back. Watson endured six hits and was sacked three times, going 23 of 34 with 308 yards and only one touchdown.

Texans at Colts: Keys to a Houston win

Getty ImagesHouston, TX -When the Colts and Texans meet, its almost always a battle. The Colts came to NRG Stadium for the Wild Card game this past January, and got the 21-7 win over the Texans. NFL Week 7: Texans at Colts Four Things To Watch For

Ironically, the one game they lost in Lucas Oil Stadium was in 2017 to this coming Sunday's Colts starter Jacoby Brissett. The Colts enter the game as a small favorite, the Texans enter the game riding a two game winning streak and the momentum of that win last week in Kansas City. In other words, in about the equivalent of an NFL regular season, Hilton has put up All-Pro numbers against the Texans. On third down defensively, the Colts rank 26th in the league, while the Texans are the best offense in the NFL on third down (51.4 percent).
