Hitting the green with pro golfers for Lucilleโs 1913 Golf Charity Tournament
Lucilleโs 1913, chef Chris Williamsโ non-profit that has donated more than 200,000 meals during the COVID-19 pandemic, will host its inaugural golf tournament on Monday, April 12, at Hermann Park. Proceeds will benefit Lucilleโs 1913 and The Imani School.
Houston restauranteur honors familyโs legacy of service on MLK Day
On Monday, his nonprofit organization, Lucille 1913, set out to fed 3,000 people in three Houston-area communities. โItโs just an opportunity for us to give back, give thanks and involve the community in the process,โ Williams said. โWe all dream about an ideal world and he also dreamed about an ideal world,โ George said. Native mascots still a sticking point in high school sports

It's an honor, they say, but not to many Native Americans who see the portrayals throughout high school, collegiate and professional sports. Maine lawmakers last year banned Native American mascots in public schools. Attempts in other states to govern the use of Native American mascots have failed in recent years. At the college level, Native American mascots seen as hostile and abusive have been banned in championship play since 2005.
Lucilles delivers thousands of free meals to senior citizens, at-risk communities across the city
Lets get the lids, Williams said to a staff of three, preparing nearly 400 to-go meals for some of Houstons most vulnerable. He serves meals daily at his restaurant, Lucilles, located in Houstons Museum District. Each morning, Williams and his team prepare hundreds of to-go meals that are delivered to local senior living facilities. Each week, the 1913 Community Catering Initiative delivers thousands of meals. A little bit under 5,000 meals per week out of this kitchen and were doing it on our own dime, he said.
