For Rachel Briers, every forecast is an opportunity to help Houstonians make informed decisions—from everyday plans to the moments that matter most.
Rachel joined KPRC 2 as a meteorologist in August 2026 after forecasting weather across Texas and the Gulf Coast. A graduate of Texas A&M University with a degree in Atmospheric Sciences, she loves the science behind weather and enjoys turning complex weather patterns into clear, easy-to-understand forecasts.
While she enjoys forecasting every type of weather, hurricane season is her favorite. She thrives on the challenge of analyzing the many factors that shape a storm and explaining what matters most to viewers in a clear, practical way.
When Rachel's not in the weather center, she's usually spending time with her husband and their two daughters. During rodeo season, they love visiting the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, and throughout the year you'll often find them exploring the Houston Zoo or singing along to country music in the car. A self-proclaimed 90s country music trivia expert, Rachel can often identify a song within just a few seconds, and she rarely leaves home without her "emotional support" water bottle—even if her daughters end up claiming it before the day is over.
