Rice women’s basketball frustrated after missing March Madness but eager to play in WBIT

Owls will host Louisiana Tech on Thursday night in the opening round of the Women’s Basketball Invitational Tournament.

HOUSTON – After falling to UTSA in the American Conference Tournament Championship game, the Rice women’s basketball team is channeling its frustration into its next opportunity — hosting Louisiana Tech on Thursday night at Tudor Fieldhouse.

“We’re obviously disappointed in the outcome of the championship game, but I refuse to let 40 minutes define our entire season,” said Rice head coach Lindsay Edmonds. “We’ve had an incredible year. We went 17-1 in conference, won 22 straight games, and captured the regular-season championship—something that hasn’t been done here in a very long time. While we’re disappointed, I’m also thankful they feel that way because it shows how much it means. We’ve still had an incredible season.”

The Owls will look to bounce back when they tip off against Louisiana Tech at 7 p.m. Thursday night.
