Suspect dead, 3 injured after police chase ends in crash in Texas City

GALVESTON COUNTY, Texas – A suspect is dead and three others were hospitalized following a police pursuit that ended in a crash Tuesday afternoon in Texas City, according to authorities.

The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office said it was called in by the Texas City Police Department around 2:50 p.m. to assist with a crash investigation at the intersection of SH 146 and FM 646.

Preliminary information indicates the crash followed a pursuit involving Texas City police.

Authorities with GCSO said the chase ended when the suspect crashed at the intersection.

The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials said three other individuals were transported for medical treatment. Two were taken to HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake, while another was transported to UTMB Galveston.

The conditions of the other victims have not been released.

Multiple units with the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office, including the Crash Team, Major Crimes Unit, and Crime Scene Unit, are actively investigating the incident. The Galveston County District Attorney’s Office is also on scene.

The investigation remains ongoing, and officials say additional details are limited. The identity of the deceased suspect has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
