NEW CANEY, Texas – Hot dog! The Houston area is getting a new chain of fast food restaurants, with the first location in New Caney.
Officials with the East Montgomery County Improvement District posted on its Facebook page that Wienerschnitzel is opening 12 locations in the Houston area.

The restaurant chain serves hotdogs, burgers, sandwiches, snacks, breakfast and Tastee-Freez ice cream treats.
Some may remember the company as Der Wienerschnitzel, according to officials with the East Montgomery County Improvement District. When one woman asked on the Facebook post whether the chain is the same that was around in the '70s, the EMCID officials replied that it is the same company -- it just dropped the "Der" from its name.
Wienerschnitzel does not currently have a listing for New Caney on its website.

The chain has restaurants in Arizona, California, Colorado, Guam, Illinois, Louisiana, New Mexico, Nevada, Texas, Utah, and Washington.
