School therapy dog gets own yearbook photo, becomes social media sensation

Bird helps students with autism and special needs in Ohio

A school therapy dog has become a social media sensation. 

A photo of the dog’s yearbook pic was tweeted on Thursday by Twitter user Jaxon with the caption, “Oh my god. my mom got my dog a school picture because he’s a therapy dog at her school.”

KSAT.com reached out to Jaxon, who said the dog’s name is Bird, and he is a therapy dog at a school for school for children with autism and special needs in Ohio. 

Jaxon added Bird, a mix of Labrador and Beagle, gets to go to school every day with his mom, Dana, to help keep the students calm. 

Students also get to hang out with Bird as a reward for good behavior.

Jaxon’s mom wanted Bird to be included in the yearbook photos because of everything he does for the students. Bird is even wearing a pink bow tie in the photo. 

Bird’s photo went viral and as of Monday morning, had been retweeted more than 36,000 times and liked more than 124,000 times.

There have also been hundreds of replies, with some Twitter users sharing similar photos of their therapy dogs at school.
