According to the Houston Chronicle, the limited-time flavor is now back in stores as summer heat continues across Texas.
Homemade in the Shade combines Blue Bell’s signature Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream with a swirl of rich chocolate fudge sauce. It is available in both pint and half-gallon containers.
Homemade in the Shade originally disappeared from store shelves for about 10 years before Blue Bell brought it back in July 2025 to celebrate National Ice Cream Month.
The company said at the time that the flavor would only be available for a limited time.
Now, fans have another opportunity to pick it up.
Blue Bell, which was founded in Brenham in 1907, has continued bringing back popular flavors for limited runs while introducing new options throughout the year.
Earlier this summer, the company released Chocolate Lava Cake Ice Cream, while other recent offerings include Black Raspberry Fudge and the patriotic Red, White & Blue Bell.
Blue Bell has not announced a specific end date for the latest run, but the company lists Homemade in the Shade among its featured limited-time flavors.
So if this is one of your favorites, it may be worth grabbing a carton while it’s back on shelves.
After all, summer in Texas is a little easier with a bowl of vanilla ice cream and chocolate fudge waiting in the freezer.
