Mother upset after bus drops son off at stranger's home

SUGAR LAND, Texas – An exciting first day of school for a 5-year-old turned into a scary situation for a Sugar Land family.

"He was excited and I was excited for him," Dominique Mose said.

Chalil Mose was picked up from his Sugar Land elementary school, but his mother said the bus service that she arranged to pick him up, Mini Masters, dropped him off at the wrong place.

"I called the day care around 3:40; she said, 'No, not yet, give it a little bit of time. Other kids may be have to be dropped off,' so I said, 'OK,' I didn't think much of it," she said.

Instead, she said, Chalil was left at a stranger's house on the same street as the home day care.

"The people (at that home) were kind enough to help us and get him where he needs to be, I thank them because it just could have been so bad," she said.

The owner of Mini Masters said the bus driver flipped two numbers on the address and did not leave the child, but walked with the neighbor down the street to deliver Chalil to his day care.

Mose said she was told Chalil arrived only with the kind neighbor.

"I'm livid. I'm upset. This is my child's first day of school," she said.

Mose is not taking any more chances. She said she'll be picking up her son Wednesday, and figuring out another plan for aftercare.
