Wrong place, wrong time: Man killed during home invasion was only picking someone up, police say

HOUSTON – A man is dead after a shooting in southeast Houston.

According to authorities, the incident happened around 11 p.m. Wednesday near Adrian Street and Berkley Street.

When police arrived, they found a 49-year-old Hispanic man dead in a driveway of an apartment that had also been the scene a home invasion the same day, police said.

According to a news release, four to five black men and a Hispanic male forced their way into the apartment and demanded the resident's property.

As they fled the scene, they shot a man who had just arrived to pick up the tenant, police said. He died at the scene.

Police said the men fled the scene in a white, older model, four-door sedan.
