HOUSTON – Houston police are investigating a late-night shooting that left two men injured in the 6100 block of W. Tidwell Road.

According to the Houston Police Department, officers were called to the scene around 10:20 p.m. Friday after reports of gunfire. Investigators said two men were walking in the area and eating ice cream when a vehicle carrying four people pulled up and shots were fired.
One of the men was hit in the side of his abdomen, and the other was wounded in the arm, police said. Officers who arrived first began providing emergency care until the Houston Fire Department transported both victims to a nearby hospital. Police said both men were listed in stable condition.
While canvassing the area, officers found a person believed to be connected to the shooting and detained that individual nearby, police said. Investigators said the person gave information about the vehicle involved and the remaining suspects and is being interviewed by detectives.
At this stage, police believe the incident was isolated and said there is no continuing threat to the public. Detectives have not found any sign that the victims knew the shooters, and the attack may have been random, authorities said.
HPD is handling the investigation.
