MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas – The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said a targeted, 4-day operation led to 23 arrests. Deputies also recovered thousands of dollars in stolen merchandise.
The sheriff’s office Crime Reduction Unit said deputies worked with local retailers and loss-prevention teams from Aug. 4 through Aug. 7 to monitor commercial areas, identify suspected shoplifters and apprehend suspects.

The arrests include cases involving organized retail theft, shoplifting, outstanding warrants and drug crimes.
Deputies also recovered more than $5,200 worth of stolen merchandise. They returned the items directly to the affected businesses.
The sheriff’s office said it regularly conducts proactive enforcement operations to improve public safety, and officials described the latest initiative as part of a broader push to work directly with retailers to protect businesses, employees and shoppers.
Sheriff Wesley Doolittle emphasized the importance of community partnerships, saying the sheriff’s office and the community are “better together.”
