HOUSTON – A teen suspect has been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of 16-year-old Jadiel Rodriguez, Houston Police announced.
Rodriguez was shot and killed on May 7 in the 8700 block of Blackhawk Ridge Lane at approximately 3:55 p.m. A second male was also wounded in the incident and was transported to an area hospital.

According to Houston Police, the 16-year-old juvenile suspect turned himself in on August 5. He has been referred to Harris County Juvenile Probation Authorities on a charge of aggravated robbery. Per policy, the name and photo of the juvenile suspect are not being released.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Nielsen and Detective A. Herrera led the investigation. Officers who responded to the original shooting call found Rodriguez with multiple gunshot wounds. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
Further investigation identified the second shooting victim as a suspect in the incident. He was subsequently charged for his role in the case.
Investigators say a person of interest, known only as “Junior,” was identified and a photo was released on May 22. Junior remains wanted for questioning and has not been located.
KPRC 2 News has previously reported on Rodriguez’s death and the community’s response including family members who set up a memorial at the scene and neighbors who helped identify a thief accused of stealing sentimental items before returning them.
