HOUSTON – Although it may feel like summer just started, back to school season is right around the corner.
School supplies can get expensive, so we’ve made a list of places where you can find either free or cheap supplies for your family.

Braeswood Church Community Health Fair
When: Saturday, July 11, 8 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Where: Braeswood Assembly of God Church Fondren Campus | 10611 Fondren Rd
Price: Free
The Braeswood Community Health Fair is a chance for families to receive free school supplies and health services.
Attendees can pick up backpacks, shoes, markers and more, while also enjoying free food, health screenings and vaccinations.
Can’t make it on July 11? A second health fair will be held July 18 at the church’s Branch Forest Campus, located at 14635 Branch Forest Dr.

Mayor’s Back 2 School & Health Fair
When: Saturday, August 1, 8 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Where: George R Brown Convention Center | 1001 Avenida De Las Americas
Price: Free
The Mayor’s Back 2 School and Health Fair is designed to help economically disadvantaged elementary school students.
The event will hand out 20,000 backpacks filled with school supplies, and families can also take advantage of free on-site health screenings.

Spearhead Missions Back to School Bash
When: Saturday, August 1, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Where: Booker T Washington Park | 813 S 1st St
Price: Free
Spearhead Missions, an international Christian ministry, is hosting a back-to-school celebration with free backpacks, school supplies and more.
Important to know: Backpacks will be distributed while supplies last. Children must be registered, present at the event and between the ages of 5 and 17 to receive supplies. Each child is eligible for one backpack, and adults may register up to five children. Be sure to bring your tickets to claim your supplies.
Be ready to show your tickets in order to receive your supplies.

12th Annual Rock-In-Hood Back to School Event
When: Wednesday, August 5, 8 a.m. - 11 a.m.
Where: Worthing High School | 9215 Scott St
Price: Free
Pre-registration is now open for the 12th Annual Rock-In-Hood Back-to-School event!
Families can receive free hair services, school uniforms and school supplies while supplies last.

Back-to-School Backpack Drive & Free Wash Day
When: Saturday, August 8, 8 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Where: Wash Bodega | 6604 W Bellfort Ave
Price: Free
This event offers free backpacks filled with school supplies and free laundry services. What could be better than that?
500 students of all grade levels can receive free supplies, and families who bring their own detergent can wash unlimited loads free of charge from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m.
If registration reaches capacity, you’ll be added to a waitlist and given first priority next time.

Back 2 School Daze - 5th Annual School Supply Drive
When: Saturday, August 8, 11 a.m.
Where: Houston Texans YMCA | 5202 Griggs Rd
Price: Free
The BE Impactful Foundation is partnering with several Houston organizations for 5th Back to School Daze!
Families can receive free school supplies for students in grades K-12, along with free haircuts and food while supplies last.
School supplies will be given out on a first-come, first-serve basis, and while registration isn’t required, it is helpful so organizers can estimate attendance.
Games and contests will be hosted every 30 minutes for the chance to win extra prizes!
