HOUSTON – A Houston Police Department officer was taken to the hospital after a crash involving a patrol vehicle early Wednesday morning in northwest Houston, according to police.
The crash happened around 1:40 a.m. at the intersection of Clay Road and Gessner Road.
Investigators said an HPD patrol vehicle was traveling westbound on Clay Road when another vehicle struck it in the intersection.
The officer was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, police said.
The driver of the other vehicle was detained and is being evaluated for a possible driving while intoxicated (DWI) offense.
The circumstances leading up to the crash remain under investigation. No additional information has been released.
