Hazmat crews respond to car crash on Highway 99 in Fort Bend County Northbound lanes expected to be shut down for several hours

Emergency crews are responding to a crash that has shut down the northbound lanes of State Highway 99 near West Airport Thursday afternoon, according to the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials say no life-threatening injuries have been reported in connection with the crash.
The closure is expected to last several hours as hazardous materials crews work to clean up the scene.
Authorities estimate the northbound lanes could remain shut down for 4 to 6 hours.
Drivers are being urged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes. Officials recommend using feeder roads to bypass the closure.
No additional details about the cause of the crash or the number of vehicles involved have been released at this time.
