Authorities are reporting major traffic disruptions in both directions on the Gulf Freeway following a crash involving a dump truck.
According to the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office, as of 10:45 a.m. Thursday, northbound and southbound lanes between FM 519 and Delaney Road are closed due to a roadway hazard.

The Texas Department of Transportation is heading to the scene. In a phone call with KPRC 2’s Christian Hudspeth, a TxDOT official said a dump truck spilled material on the roads.
The La Marque Police Department said the crash involves two separate accidents near the 2700 block of I-45 southbound.
One vehicle is a large commercial truck carrying rock, which spilled onto the northbound lanes. Officials report no major injuries at this time.
Motorists are urged to avoid the area and use alternate routes while crews work to clear the scene.
The Sheriff’s Office will provide updates when the highway reopens.
