CenterPoint outage tracker: 11K customers without power as severe storms pummel Houston area

Entergy also reporting outages

Over 11,000 customers are without electricity across the Houston area as severe thunderstorms move through Southeast Texas, according to the latest data from CenterPoint Energy.

CURRENT OUTAGES: 11,837 (10:07 p.m.)

The outages come as strong storms bring damaging straight-line winds, heavy downpours and lightning to the region. Some areas have also seen reports of hail and intense wind gusts capable of downing trees and power lines.

See CenterPoint’s current Outage Tracker here.

The majority of outages are concentrated in areas hardest hit by the storm cells, including parts of Harris County and surrounding communities. Crews are expected to begin restoration efforts as soon as conditions are safe.

Residents are urged to treat intersections without power as four-way stops and to avoid downed power lines. Anyone encountering a fallen line should stay back and report it to CenterPoint immediately.

Officials continue to monitor the system as additional rounds of storms remain possible.
