Search continues for suspect in fatal southeast Houston hit-and-run on Christmas Eve

HOUSTON – The search continues for the person responsible for the death of 43-year-old Erick Neftali Buruca, who was killed in a hit-and-run crash in southeast Houston on Christmas Eve.

Crime Stoppers of Houston announced on Saturday a $5,000 reward for information leading to the charging or arrest of a suspect, or suspects.

On Wednesday night, Dec. 24, officials say Erick was struck by a vehicle near his apartment at the intersection of Gulf Creek and South Loop East.

KPRC 2 News anchor and reporter Bill Barajas spoke with the Buruca family last December.

“He was a good man whose main priority was taking care of our mother,” said Marvin Buruca, Erick’s younger brother.

Erick died from his injuries in the hospital three days after the crash.

Crime Stoppers may pay up to $5,000 for information leading to the location and arrest of the suspects featured.
