ROSENBERG, Texas – Lamar Consolidated Independent School District officials confirmed that two members of the district’s police department have been placed on administrative leave while an independent third party conducts a review into publicly circulating allegations.

In a statement provided to KPRC 2 News, the district said it is aware of the allegations but would not outline their specifics, calling the situation an “active personnel matter.”

“The District is aware of allegations circulating publicly,” the statement read. “Because this is an active personnel matter, we will not comment on the nature of specific claims.”

District officials confirmed that two Lamar CISD Police Department officers are currently on administrative leave pending the review.

The district did not identify the officers—or their ranks—but said “interim leadership” has been put in place.

“During this time, two lieutenants are serving in interim leadership roles to ensure continuity of operations,” the statement said.

The investigation is reportedly being conducted by an independent third party, but officials declined to provide information on the timeline or details of that review.

“We are not providing additional details regarding the scope or nature of that review at this time,” the statement said.

Before receiving this latest update, KPRC 2 News submitted several follow-up questions to the district, including asking whether the police chief had been placed on leave.

When KPRC 2 News contacted the Lamar CISD Police Department directly, a department employee said the chief was “out.”

When asked about when the chief would be available, the employee took a moment to reportedly check his calendar, before saying she didn’t have that information.

KPRC 2 News also contacted the Rosenberg Police Department and the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office. Both agencies said they were not aware of any criminal investigations involving Lamar CISD police officers.

While attempting to gather more information Wednesday afternoon, a KPRC 2 News crew was asked to leave Lamar CISD headquarters property.

Sonya Cole-Hamilton, the district’s chief communications officer, was accompanied by a Lamar CISD police officer when she approached and told the crew the news vehicle could not remain parked on district property.

“We can’t have this vehicle on district property,” Cole-Hamilton said. “That’s the request, yes sir.”

Cole-Hamilton did not explain the basis for the request to move and refused to answer follow-up questions related to the police department staffers on administrative leave.

When KPRC 2’s Mario Diaz emailed Cole-Hamilton personally, she responded with the same statement. All members of the district’s board have also been contacted.

In a previous statement, Lamar CISD said the district’s focus “remains on maintaining the safety and continuity of district operations.”

The school district has a special called board meeting scheduled for Thursday afternoon, at which time it’s expected to enter into a closed session to discuss personnel matters. It’s unclear if those matters may include the police department employees.
