HOUSTON – Eastbound and westbound lanes on the East Freeway (I-10) are closed near John Ralston and Federal Roads due to a sinkhole, officials say.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said the sinkhole was caused by a water leak affecting the left shoulder of the freeway.

Texas Department of Transportation crews are on the scene to address the issue.
While there is no clear timeframe when repairs will be finished, officials said this could require an extended closure.
Authorities said to avoid the area and use alternate routes.
