Good Samaritan in kayak rescues infant, driver after crash into Dickinson Bayou

DICKINSON, Texas – The Dickinson Police Department is thanking an anonymous Good Samaritan for rescuing an infant and the driver of a vehicle which crashed into Dickinson Bayou.

The crash happened Thursday night at approximately 9:38 p.m. in the 1100 block of E. FM 517.

Officers responded after receiving a call of a vehicle which had crashed into the bayou.

Before officers arrived, the Good Samaritan used a kayak to reach the submerged vehicle and rescue the driver and an infant inside.

Officers conducted an investigation and alcohol or drugs were determined not to be a factor in the crash.

Dickinson EMS checked out both the infant and driver and determined neither had any injuries. The vehicle was then removed from the bayou.

“The Dickinson Police Department would like to thank the Good Samaritan for his quick and selfless actions,” the department said.
