BAYTOWN, Texas – An 18-year-old student has been charged with murder after stabbing a 16-year-old classmate with scissors during a fight at Ross S. Sterling High School in Baytown.
The Harris County District Attorney’s Office confirmed that Aundre Matthews will face murder charges in connection with the death of Andrew Meismer.

The incident occurred on Wednesday morning, Dec. 17, when Baytown police responded to a report of a stabbing at around 10:42 a.m.
Officials said two male students were involved in a fight inside a classroom, during which Matthews allegedly stabbed Meismer.
Sterling High School was placed on a temporary hold following the fight, and the parents of both students were notified. Classes resumed a short time later, according to accounts from students and parents.
Meismer was flown to the hospital by Life Flight, but he later died from his injuries.
The Sterling High School community has been shaken by the incident, with students and family members gathering outside the school, many in tears.
Meismer’s girlfriend spoke about her grief, saying she did not get to see or hold him before his death.

Protesters at the school claimed Matthews should not have been on campus, citing a history of discipline issues.
The district superintendent released a statement urging caution regarding information circulating on social media, including an image that appeared to show Matthews’ disciplinary record.
Matthews was taken into police custody shortly after the incident and remains booked in Baytown. He is expected to be transferred to the Harris County Jail, where he will eventually appear before a judge.
Goose Creek CISD announced it will offer counseling services for students and staff to help the community cope with the tragedy.
A vigil for the victim is scheduled to take place at Jenkins Park on Friday at 6 p.m.
